I've approached and walked away from Windows Workflow Foundation (WF) on several occasions. On the surface, the idea behind WF sounds simple and efficient, but the devil is in the details, and those details get hairy very fast. Each trip to the documentation left noise in my head. Finally, this book written by Scott Allen, a good friend of mine, cleared the fog.

The cover says it's a "concise and practical guide", and it is concise, indeed. Don't expect a discussion of every nook and cranny of WF. It's a great starter, but not a comprehensive reference. Make sure you know what you're buying.

Scott has a way of explaining complicated concepts in a plain language. Some of the bits have been covered on his blog before, but it's nice to have everything as a handy reference. I highly recommend the book to any WF beginner!
